200+ Miles.
35 Hours.

Before:

After:

Smiles.. it's what we do.

We started at 8am...
So we met at 4:20am, left Phoenix by 5am, picked up a Cholla on the way and made it to Wickenburg around 6:45am.
Went through safety check & decorated the van! By no time it was time for me to start.
I was nervous.

LEG 1 - 13.8 miles
Garmin says 14.26
8:00am
Time: 2:05
Pace: 8:47

First run is always the best. Especially when you get to start at 8am!
The first 8ish miles were uphill. No biggie, I heart hills!

I kept my pace in the 9:15 area up all the hills and once I was headed down I picked it up and let gravity do its work! LOVE DOWNHILLS!!

By the time I finished I was HAPPY/GIDDY. Ready to party.

CHOLLA'S DO THE HARLEM SHAKE!

Too bad we never got this on film... probably for the better!!

One of the great things about Ragnar is the team effort.
We all get to help and cheer for each other the entire time!

Here is all of us helping Michelle get ready for her first leg...
she had to run 20+ miles just for her first leg!!!
#shewasaSUPERrockstarfortakingthaton

THIS is one of my favorite pictures...
not of Aimswa and I but look behind us...
THESE are my girls...
Christy & Sue are smiling and hugging...
I have NO idea why but it makes me tear up.
I LOVE MY GIRLFRIENDS!

Trying to stay warm, rest and catch up on Social Media
=D

Shout out to TRIBE MULTISPORT
They hooked us up with
COWBELLS, Powerbar Gels, Hammer Nutrition, Water & Ironman drinks!

LEG 2 - 11.7 miles
Garmin says 11.74
9:20pm
Time: 1:52
Pace: 9:36

Running into friends on the course is SO fun!
Well somewhere between feeling amazing on my first run and starting this run I ate something that my stomach was NOT happy about. I didn't realize how bad it actually was until I tried running...

HEHE... well I stared and my stomach HATED me.
AND I can't say I wasn't warned...

BAHAHA. I love my Instagram friends...
SO here it comes.
A race report full of s**t.

Do you notice something missing?
GLOVES.
Thanks for the warning Emz... didn't work.
I pooped on the side of the road.
I. Am. An. Official. Runner. Now.

Not only that but I felt as if I needed to vomit the ENTIRE RUN.
UGH.
SUCKED.
I got through it though. Thank goodness this was the one run without hills in it for me cause that may have pushed me over the edge of vomiting and pooping!
BAHAHAHA

Thankfully... I didn't "vomit" until after my run.
Thankfully. Bahahaha. It's gross.
Sorry, but sometimes running isn't pretty. If you are a runner you know this.

LEG 3 - 11 miles
Garmin says 11.06
7:29am
Time: 2:02
Pace: 11:05

This run was uphill for about 7 of the 11.
On normal "rested" legs I could have ROCKED it.
BUT this is not normal.
I had ran 26.34 miles and been awake for 27+ hours.
No napping yet either... just didn't work. I tried since my stomach was SO upset still.
I couldn't eat after my last leg. I tried but then it made me want to hurl so I stopped.

This run had us on the side of Scottsdale Rd. at 8am... it was busy.
LOTS of cars. Did not like that but the weather was perfect.

I sucked this run up and took it a couple miles at a time.
Kept thinking this is it. MY LAST RUN!
By the time I had climbed the last 3/4 miles I was DONE.
#literally!!
I HAPPILY handed that wristband to Aimswa

This is another one of my favorites!
All of us Chollas & our Prick aka Jeff our AWESOME Co-Pilot Crew Cheif!

When we finally made it to the finish I was ready...
TO EAT.
I wanted FOOD.
=D

Here is SUEBUG
finishing up our
35 HOUR RUNNING experience!

YAY! WE ARE DONE!
Cholla Chicks Rocked it.
These women "chicks" are amazing!
Sue, Emily, Michelle, Christy & Amy... I LOVE YOU!

37.4 miles for me DONE.

A HUGE shout out to all our friends on the course!
It was SO FUN running into them... mostly at the finish line!

BUT A HUGE HUGE AWESOME THANK YOU TO HEIDI aka BananaBUZZbomb for coming out, not only once, but TWICE to cheer us on!! She was SUPER awesome and I didn't get a picture...
#bloggerfail!

THANK YOU TO OUR WONDERFUL SPONSORS

ALSO THANK YOU TO OUR amazing wonderful volunteers that helped out and without them we would not have been able to even do Ragnar!
FRANCES & ANN MARGARET!

Last but NOT least our driver, co-pilot & sag truck
Ked, Jeff & Joel
THEY were SO amazing and helpful.
We would NOT have made it without the support from all three of these wonderful men!

So this post was kinda all about me...
I just wanted to get that out before I dive into whatever else I feel like later...

CAUSE this year needs TWO Ragnar Del Sol posts.

Swim: 400 meters 9:20
1:18:24

NOW... on to the fun stuff!!

Woke up Saturday ready to freakin rock it.

Kitty cat, Mari, was ready for me to get out of the house so she could party.

It was a COLD day.
And I got this message from my girl Aimswa before we left...

Maybe a bit too enthusiastic at 4:54am??
Nawwww!

All us racers getting ready for the super cold race!
Brrrrr!!

Lance did awesome, he got 3rd place in his age group for the kids triathlon!
GO LANCE!

After the kids race ended it was our turn!!

Aimswa and I trying to warm up.
#seriouslyitwaslike41orsomethingcrazycold

The run went really well.
I saw a girl that looked pro and decided I was going to keep up with her.
AND I DID!!

Most definitively PRed again for my 5k.
23:06

The Bike.
I'm not ready to talk about it.
hahahaha
Ran into transition... threw everything off/on and around!
Noticed that I was the first to grab my bike from the rack I was on
#SCORE
#thebikenexttomewasatribike
#iwashappy

OKAY then I got on the bike... well the bike and I are not friends yet.
It's hard. Really hard.
There was a headwind on each lap going each direction... maybe not but it felt that way!!!
I just kept saying "PEDAL WITH PURPOSE" over and over again

On the 2nd lap a girl with the age "29" passed me...
I worked my butt off to stay with her...
THANKFULLY she was a lap BEHIND ME!!!
Now I could #relax?? for the swim!
I knew no one in my age group had passed me yet!
45:58
So probably 42-43 minutes once you take transition times off

The Swim.
I felt pretty good going into the water.
I knew I would do better than I did at Anthem on the swim.
I jumped in #afterstrugglingtogetmyswimcapon...
Instantly got a cramp in my right foot...
So I just didn't kick hard, it finally went away after 100 meters
THEN I got a cramp in my toe for the next 100 meters... then it too went away.
The next 200 meters I felt comfortable and started passing people and getting into my grove.
Finished in 9:20
Not the best time for sure but it was the fastest time in my age group!

Afterwards we froze waiting for the awards ceremony!

The race was SO FUN!!!
I definitely recommend these smaller sprints, they are so fun!
Best part of the day is knowing I went out and gave it all I had.

I cannot wait for Barb's race, but I am glad I have plenty of time to work on my cycling.
After Ragnar Del Sol, the bike is going to become my major focus. . .
I GOT THIS!!

Feb 7, 2013

Fall down. Get back up!

After my fall Sunday...
#ihavebeenhealingnicely
I HAVE BEEN LUCKY!

I FORGOT. #shame
I won a $50 gift card towards running shoes at Sole Sports!!
I love Sole, I bought my first pair of running shoes from them =D

THEN later Sunday night I got this...
YEP, I won an entry to the TORCHLIGHT 5K
SO excited to race this woman... I mean chase!! =D

I didn't want to post pictures from this race cause I look like death.
But at least that is how I was feeling too.
Running sick... well makes me look sick!
#sickandWHITE

Just goes to prove. Take the bad with the good.
Bad: I haven't ran all week... I couldn't walk very well until yesterday.
I have a sprint tri Saturday, BUT I feel VERY confident I will be fine now :)
May not be the best race ever but I am going to give it my all!

Xterra McDowell Mtn Race Recap

LOVE Xterra races!

I was super excited for McDowell cause I love the trails out there....
and I got to run on parts of it I have never ran on!
#awesome

I woke up Saturday with a "headcold"
UGH.
Skipped my long bike ride and short run.
Stayed in bed and read all day =D
#finallyfinished #thenightcircus #lovedit

I knew going into this race it was going to be tough one since I didn't feel 100%
I thought maybe it would help the sickness... It DID! =D

Sunday morning got my butt outta bed and headed out to the trails with friends!
#thatswhatlifeisabout

WE look ready... well other than looking sleepy still!!

The race was good.
I only had one mile under 10mm & that is when I fell!
YEP. I FELL. Duhhhhh.

I finished in 2:26
2nd AG - 28th female
Not bad...
I originally (before I got sick) wanted to be around 2:10ish
My readjusted goal was under 2:30 and I did that!

I love to show off my bloody knee!

This race I broke up into 3 parts.
Five miles at a time.
First 5 were awesome.
I felt good going out and was prepared for the suckfest.
It's always better when you know it's going to suck, right? I think so.

Next 5 were HARD.
Hills.
Runny nose.
Kept repeating my motto, "I feel good, I feel great," it keeps my mind from saying FU legs.
THEN I FELL.
Hahaha 10 miles in, going down hill a bit to fast, lost my footing... BAM.
Knee and left hand bleeding!
I saved one hand thanks to my trusty water bottle! :)

Last 5...
I found some awesome pacers!
#thatpassedmeasiwasgettingupfrommylovelyfall
Stuck to them until the last mile and pushed my butt in front to finish strong.

2:26.07
Not the bestest time but not bad for this gal.
9:41 pace on the trails is good for me!

Love this group.
I have pretty awesome friends!

Later that night I noticed my leg hurting... so I checked it out.
HEHEHE Good job Mandi!!
OUCH!!

Responsible training. #imtrying Bye bye January!

January in review...

Not bad, but not great. Seriously my running should be WAY MORE.
Ugh. It's frustrating seeing my volume go down so much.
Being sick.
Being lazy.
Too cold... etc.
FULL OF EXCUSES.

I am learning how to add two sports into my regular training.
IT IS HARD.
I'll get it.
Just need to keep chuggin' along.

January moments you missed
